Day 12: Back to school Monday

Today we had a regular school day which was very rainy so we didn't do much sight-seeing or even walking around to explore. We just had school and then ran a bunch of errands and ate dinner out. Yes, we are boring but we are having fun!

Here are a few photos of Amelia's teacher, Karin the expressive one!

After classes and lunch, we spent 45 minutes in the Mediothek, which is the library/media library of the Goethe Institut.

This place is pretty awesome but it's in the attic, so it's a bit stuffy when the weather is warm. We need to spend more time here reading through the books!

We studied for a while there because we signed up for an additional sort of class at 2:30 which was all conversation. In that hour we were paired up with someone and just spoke German as much as possible with some prompts for questions provided by the leader, Lilli.  It was fun. Amelia spoke with Hannah, who just finished her first year at the U. of Michican, and Andy spoke with Hadi, a student from Iran.

Then we wandered around running errands (Halle Tagblatt tourist information office, stationary store, post office, ATM, drug store, etc.). We bought some small books about the local area and about the bike baths near by and throughout Germany.

We enjoyed the morning storms and the rainy day because they finally ended the heatwave. Then, we went home to study.  Here's another photo of the funky city library that is a class house. Yes, it's still raining lightly at this point. Books live in glass houses!

Then, we had a nice dinner out at Pulcinella. Since the rains came today, it was too cold to dine outside so we finally ate inside the restaurant for a change. The food, as always, was fantastic.  The restaurant was mostly full of Italians and we heard mostly Italian being spoken around us.

We are getting well acquainted with the waiter who works 7 days per week in his family's restaurant. His father is from Naples and his mother is from Sicily. We love their food!

We walked home on a cloudly evening the 50 yards or so to our building (just past the tower!).

Time for more homework!
